The Client

Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, BNE has two major terminals servicing 26 airlines flying to 42 national and 28 international destinations. More than 21.8 million passengers travelled through the airport in FY13. Within the 2,700 hectare airport site more than 21,000 employees' are employed by the 420 plus businesses serving a diverse range of industries.

Situation

As part of its airport precinct expansion plan, BAC wanted to upgrade and expand its communications capability with a modern digital network that would best meet the needs of a fast-growing, modern airport precinct.

Response

Tait will provide BAC with a modern two-site DMR Tier 3 network, with Managed Services that will allow BAC to focus on managing and growing its business.

The comprehensive service component from Tait includes TaitManage Infrastructure to monitor the new DMR network, 24x7, from Tait's Service Management Centres and will provide full network support with fault restoration. Tait will also deliver its traditional design and deploy services throughout the upgrade.

The Tait solution incorporates Tait DMR Tier 3 TB9300 base stations, TM9300 mobiles and TP9360 portables, and will integrate with a Crosswire console system by Logic Wireless. The Crosswire system features voice dispatch including recording and messaging, and also has the capability to provide integrated location services, to increase business efficiency and worker safety.

The DMR network will deliver numerous benefits including clearer audio quality in noisy environments, spectrum efficiency, and IP-based flexibility to easily expand or adapt as needed. Choosing the Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) open standards-based solution will ensure BAC has greater choice in its communications future.
