Tait Expands its DMR Solutions Range for Essential Team Communications

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand 7 MAY 2026

New Tait Open2 portfolio delivers simple and affordable DMR Tier 2 solutions

Schools, security, transport, manufacturing, hospitality and logistics users will benefit from a new reliable and cost-effective solution as Tait Communications expands its Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) standards-based offerings.

The global leader in interoperable, open standards critical communications solutions launched its Tait Open2 solution, featuring new portable and mobile radios, infrastructure, accessories, and monitoring and services tools.

Based on the DMR Tier 2 conventional standard, Tait Open2 provides a high-quality solution for essential team communications within small and medium sized operations, at an entry level price.

The new product line builds on Tait’s leading DMR portfolio, which offers a highly flexible range of open solutions from simple, essential communications to specialist applications for high-risk operations. The Open2 product line was designed and tested to Tait’s tradition of high-quality, durable products.

Tait Open2 was previewed at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) in Las Vegas 18-19 March and will be showcased at New Zealand’s Comms Connect 27-28 May, followed by Critical Communications World (CCW) 16-18 June in London.

As a leader in DMR open standards, this is another example of Tait innovating to deliver solutions for its growing customer-base, says Paul Mora, vice president of enterprise at Tait Communications.

“Tait Open2 is ideal for small to medium sized customers who need a reliable, rugged and affordable solution they can trust without proprietary or feature license restrictions. We’re excited to launch Tait Open2 to provide greater flexibility and choice to our dealer and customer network and extend our New Zealand-based expertise to more teams around the world.”

The announcement follows the March 2026 launch of the Tait OpenTrunk shared control channel solution for spectrum-constrained organizations in similar industries that need reliable communications.
