NSW Police Force, Australia
The NSW Police Force (NSWPF) is one of Australia’s largest law enforcement agencies, serving over 8 million residents across the state of New South Wales. Amongst the challenges of rising assaults on officers, increasing public scrutiny, and challenges in securing reliable evidence, NSWPF turned to m-View- to help enhance accountability, transparency, and officer safety. The result: improved community trust, stronger prosecutions, fewer complaints, and better support for victims.

"The use of Body-Worn Cameras (BWCs) protects both the police officer and the involved persons. "
"The evidence is captured in real time; it’s present for the court to view. This enables the court to get a ‘real’ feel for the situation presented to police rather than trying hard to paint the picture in a calm courtroom. "
"Great for accountability of police officers… anything that helps transparency for the sake of both parties. "
"This is the value of Body Worn Video… I can see what the police must deal with at the time, in the heat of the moment. "
Situation
The NSW Police Force often serve their communities with a complex set of challenges across New South Wales. There has been a rise in reports of assaults on frontline officers, public demand for increased transparency, difficulty securing reliable evidence in high-pressure situations, a high volume of complaints against officers, and a strong need for better victim support – especially in family and domestic violence cases.
NSWPF needed a scalable, secure solution to capture real-time evidence, improve trust in policing, and support justice outcomes for victims and communities alike.
Response
NSWPF implemented m-View’s Body-Worn Cameras (BWCs) and Altitude Digital Evidence Management System (DEMS) across its frontline operations. These technologies were integrated into everyday workflows to capture unbiased, high-quality video evidence at the point of contact, deter aggression and non-compliance from the public, provide independent verification of officer conduct, offer faster support and more effective prosecutions, while boosting transparency across the organisation and building trust in their community.
Outcomes
Community Trust
In the communities BWCs were used, the public expressed a 93.8% positive endorsement, and support was strong across the board for police officers, showing a 100% endorsement, and frontline officers at 79.5%.
Prosecution Outcomes
After implementing the use of BWCs, NSW prosecutors reported a 96% improved evidentiary quality in their trials, and observed a 58% increase in early guilty pleas – vastly improving the court’s efficiency.
Officer Safety and Deterrence
63% of officers reported that the use of BWCs helped deter potential offenders, and public behaviour improved with higher compliance and lower hostility toward officers.
Complaints Management
During the m-View trial, accusations and complaints fell from 109 to just 81 cases, and resolution times improved by reducing resource strain with clear court-ready evidence.
Victim Support
1 in 4 officers saw positive outcomes for domestic violence cases, where 80.6% of victim advocacy groups identified the BWCs as being beneficial to victims. The relations between police and victims also improved with the presence of Body-Worn Cameras with a 76.7% positive endorsement.
Officer Performance and Culture
Self-reported performance in police officers improved by 41.5% and 43.8% amongst their peers reported better conduct within their organisation.
The NSW Police Force’s adoption of m-View's BWCs and Altitude DEMS has redefined modern policing in the state. With greater transparency, stronger prosecutions, improved officer safety, and enhanced public confidence, NSWPF continues to lead in community focused, accountable law enforcement.
